2024 Tour de Belt Rider Instructions

The Ride is Rain or Shine (NO REFUNDS!)

HACC Parking: Opens at 8:30 AM, Enter the west parking lot from Industrial Road and Alumni Drive (Gate 2) and follow the parking attendant directions.

 Volunteers will be in red shirts and vests to assist you.

South Harrisburg Detour:  Due to ongoing construction, we will be detouring in the South Harrisburg section of the trail. Click here for the latest information. This will ensure a safe and family friendly ride.

Ride Start:

  • The ride will start at 9:00 AM, in the West Parking Lot. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your start time, which you chose when you registered.

The Route:

  • Click Here to see the traditional route. Riders will follow the trail counterclockwise, returning to HACC at the Finish Line Fest.

Finish Line Fest:

  • Riders can relax and celebrate completing the 20-mile bike ride. There will be food, music provided by DJ Tom Shingara and the opportunity to meet local organizations and sponsors.

Early T-Shirt Pick-Up:

Pick-ups at Fort Hunter are as follows:

  • Thursday May 30, 2024- 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
  • Friday May 31, 2024- 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
  • Saturday June 1, 2024 – 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
  • June 2, 2024, Sunday T-shirt pick-up in the HACC West Parking lot from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM

Your wristband must be worn on June 2.  It will indicate your start time and has contact information in case you experience an emergency.

We recommend picking up t-shirts in advance to ensure your size.  Otherwise t-shirts should be picked up on June 2 on a first come first served basis and size will not be guaranteed.

Prepare for and Ensure a Safe and FUN Ride around Harrisburg:

  • EVERYONE PARTICIPATING IN THE TOUR DE BELT MUST WEAR A HELMET. IF YOU REFUSE TO WEAR A HELMET YOU WILL HAVE YOUR WRISTBAND REMOVED AND, YOU WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED A PARTICIPANT!  Be sure to bring a helmet, you can see how to properly fit and wear a helmet.  Bike Helmet Video
  • Bring your own filled water bottle.
  • Follow the volunteer and police instructions when crossing intersections and the rules of the road.
  • Please follow the route guides. Thank them for volunteering.
  • Use EXTRA care on “Share the road sections” and pay particular attention when crossing streets. Go slowly down hills at Reservoir Park and at the State Hospital. 
  • Watch for rough trail surfaces.
  • Maintain safe distance between riders. Be courteous and try to avoid and/or announce sudden turns and stops.
  • Wear your Tour de Belt t-shirt to show your support!

LIMITED BIKE ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE TO HELP WITH LAST MINUTE BIKE ISSUES!

  • Pedal Pusher and World Cup Ski & Sport will be at HACC.
  • REI will be at PennDot rest area.
  • Holmes Cycling will be at Reservoir Park rest area.
  • Mountain Side Ski and Sport 28th Street/ Rt. 441 rest stop.

NEED HELP DURING THE RIDE?

  • Ride marshals will be wearing light green safety vests labeled “Ride Marshal”. They will have tools and will be prepared to provide minor bike repairs.  You must be wearing a helmet and wristband to receive assistance.
  • If a marshal is not available, call 717-921-4733, the number on your wristband.
  • If there is an emergency, please call 911.

Ride Support:

  • No rider will be left behind. If you are struggling to finish, please take advantage of our SAG-wagon services.  Call 717-921-4733.
  • Support services will be provided until 1:00 PM.

3 Tour de Belt Rest Stops with snacks provided by Hershey and Karns

  • PennDot-Portable Toilets, REI Tech Station, snacks and water sponsored by Harrisburg Young Professionals.
  • 28th Street/Rt. 441 Trailhead-Portable Toilets, Mountain Side Ski and Sports, snacks and water sponsored by Swatara Township Police.
  • Reservoir Park-Holmes Cycling, Portable Toilets, snacks and water sponsored by Susquehanna Township.
