CAGA’s Board of Directors meet the first Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm.  Meetings are virtual and open to the public. If you would like to join our meeting, email caga@caga.org for details and a link at least one week prior to the meeting date.

Committee Chairs

Mike Shaull

  • Manages CAGA’s by-laws and CAGA’s operation as a nonprofit organization.
  • Maintains a current list of Directors.
  • Updates the Board application form and process when needed.
  • The Chair and/or committee members select and meet with potential candidates and manages the application and nomination process.
  • Handles the Director nomination process at the Annual Meeting.
  • Addresses any issues/concerns with Directors including failure to attend meetings without excuse.
  • Provides annual training to new Directors.

Wes Veigle

  • Manages all financial aspects of CAGA.
  • Reviews, approves, and pays all CAGA expenses including the reimbursement of expenses incurred by members when undertaking approved activities.
  • Works with our insurance company and facilitates requests for certificate of insurance and obtains clarification on policy coverages.
  • Is responsible for maintaining current memberships to various organizations, establishing and maintaining bank account records, renewing and managing tax exempt status and non-profit status and hiring an auditor to audit the books every year.

Becky Schuchert

Supports maintenance volunteers assigned to various Greenbelt sections as needed.  Assigns and directs volunteers to maintain various sections of the Greenbelt.  Examples of maintenance activities include grass cutting, weed trimming, tree trimming, leaf clearing, trail clearance after storms, etc.

  • Recruits and trains new volunteers as needed.
  • Coordinates major maintenance projects (ex. planned 2023 repair of the Amtrak bridge).
  • Monitors equipment care and repairs.

Cindy Hogeman

Greenbelt Gardens – A CAGA volunteer (prior director) is the current manager of all Greenbelt gardens with primary responsibility for the Five Senses Gardens.  The gardens require constant care, and there is an ongoing need for trained volunteer help.  This committee is seeking organizations, businesses, and/or individuals to adopt and maintain all gardens and trail heads.    

Scott Shepler

  • Coordinates the Paxtang Parkway Restoration Project – CAGA’s top capital project including writing grant applications and implementing grant funded project phases.
  • Coordinates restoration projects on the Cameron Parkway.
  • Supports the DCNR funded peer study and future implementation of recommendations.
  • Facilitates efforts to permanently protect South Harrisburg.
  • Reviews and determines which proposed extensions or trail relocations will be addressed.

Diane Kripas

  • Manages CAGA’s three annual events: the annual award dinner/picnic, Tour de Belt, and the annual member meeting.
  • Tour de Belt has its own supporting committee that meets monthly from January through July.
  • Organizes clean up events typically starting the 2nd Saturday in March with Industrial Road through Earth Day in April.

Note:  The chair coordinates with organizations interested in doing cleanups and works with committee members to schedule cleanup activities.

Richard Norford

  • Promotes CAGA activities through social media and CAGA’s website.
  • Manages CAGA’s website, updates information and adds new information upon request.
  • To get information posted on social media and/or CAGA’s website, provide the Chair with camera-ready information and pictures.
  • Coordinates media events.

Cathy Hart

  • Updates CAGA’s membership brochure and membership signage when needed and ensures kiosk brochure holders are filled.
  • Promotes the Greenbelt and CAGA membership at environmental/community events 5-8 times/year.
  • Organizes activities, materials, and volunteers at the CAGA booth.
  • Sends out the annual membership notice and payment reminders.
  • Engages current members and recruits new members to support CAGA and Greenbelt needs.

Open

A CAGA volunteer checks CAGA’s email/phone regularly and refers requests, opportunities, and questions to the appropriate Directors and/members.

Michael Scott Doyle

  • Facilitates the adoptions of trail miles by private businesses and/or community groups.
  • Monitors adopted sections. Note:  Currently, three Greenbelt segments are officially adopted.  Leos adopted the Paxtang Parkway through the Keep PA Beautiful program.  Faulkner and Covanta have adopted Greenbelt miles under CAGA’s stewardship program.

Meetings begin promptly at 6:00pm.
