DESCRIPTION:The Capital Area Greenbelt Association is proud to announce the 19th annual Tour de Belt will be held Sunday\, June 2\, 2019. Save the date and plan to be part of a fun event that includes riding bikes\, sightseeing\, and nature in Central Pennsylvania. The ride follows a the 20 mile Greenbelt – a century-old system of parks and open spaces. Riders will experience many improvements to the Greenbelt – safer trail crossings at busy intersections and many newly paved portions of the Greenbelt. \n  \nSign-up for the event at the Tour de Belt registration page or by tying the following url into your browser\, https://caga.wildapricot.org/event-3224809 \n\nIf you are not interested in riding\, you can support the Greenbelt and sign up as a TdB volunteer. DESCRIPTION:The Capital Area Greenbelt Association invites you to celebrate the holiday and plant some trees on our beloved Greenbelt. We will plant 17 bare root trees and 24 containerized trees\, all native to PA\, to replace the trees removed during Capital Region Water’s recent sewer project. DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Earth Day\, we have over 20 miles of Greenbelt that could use some spring cleaning! On April 13\, we are partnering with the Great Harrisburg Litter Cleanup to do additional Greenbelt cleanup. We currently have a team of volunteers from the Harrisburg Area Road Runners Club and the River Runners that will focus their efforts on trash removal along Industrial Road\, from the HACC parking lots to Wildwood Park. The Great Harrisburg Litter Cleanup is from 9am -1pm. We will focus our cleanup efforts on the portions of the Greenbelt from PennDOT to Cameron St\, Cameron St to the 19th St parking lot\, and from the Five Senses Garden to Paxton St. If picking up litter isn’t your thing\, there will be other garden related activities to help with at the Five Senses Garden. This event will begin at 11am. DESCRIPTION:This ride is sponsored by the Harrisburg Bicycle Club but non-bicycle club members are invited to ride. Helmets required. \nThe ride begins at the trail head off Derry Street behind the City Line Diner.  The trail is 18+ miles long.  No rider is left behind.  The pace is advertised as avg 10 mph.  Riding with a group is usually safer than riding along.  Learn the route with a leader. \nMost but not all of the Greenbelt is now paved with new safety features at intersections.

DESCRIPTION:Register by check\, cash or credit card the day of the event. \nThe Capital Area Greenbelt Association (CAGA) will be hosting the 18th annual Tour de Belt on the Capital Area Greenbelt.  The Ride will follow the Greenbelt – a century-old system of parks and open spaces connected by a 20-mile trail.  Starting and ending at HACC-Harrisburg Campus\, riders of all ages can participate in a family friendly event that travels through the City of Harrisburg\, Paxtang and Penbrook Boroughs\, and Susquehanna and Swatara townships.  This is not a race.  Participants will ride through picturesque natural areas including Wildwood Lake and special places like the beautiful Five Senses Gardens and the Martin Luther King Memorial. \nParticipants receive lunch and a t-shirt and can enjoy post ride activities. All proceeds raised from the Tour de Belt will be used for the restoration and continued maintenance of this iconic park and trail system.  The Capital Area Greenbelt Association is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to the continued preservation\, enhancement and promotion of the Greenbelt.  Volunteers provide over 6\,000 hours annually maintaining the trail\, caring for the surrounding landscape through native planting and invasive species removal\, and developing and overseeing trail extension projects.  Over $6 million has been raised to improve trail crossings at busy intersections\, repair older trail sections and extend the trail to Fort Hunter in 2018.
